Accidentally Fun Saturdays Are Awesome

Saturday, October 20, 2018

I thought today was going to be a dud mostly because Bryan had to work sun-up to sun-down and I knew I wouldn't be able to wrangle all three kids for some big "fall memory" by myself (without a lot of tantrums and bad moods).  Also--my house is a disaster, so that's a downer, too. I woke up this morning basically in the midst of a big ole' pity party, HOWEVER, the day was absolutely, positively beautiful (for the first time in two weeks) so I resolved myself to positivity and hustled my TV-glued kids out of the house and then went to....

McDonald's! Which I actually detest! Ha! But the kids begged to go so there you are. Afterwards, we headed to a park in one of my favorite areas of town and as luck would have it, the surrounding neighborhood happened to be having their annual Halloween Spook Fest which we happily took advantage of. Yay!

One of Hayes' absolute favorite things in his little life is a good bounce house, and they had a bunch of them there with no lines and lots of slides. What a happy boy he was.

The weather, as previously stated, was PERFECT. Crisp, not humid, 70 degrees....just the way I like it. We were surrounded by the beauty of the area (TREES! HILLS!) and I was reminded of how thankful I am to live here.

We stayed into the evening, and left only because Lily started to lose her mind from exhaustion and hunger. She loved the train, though. (As did her big brothers.)

Much to my surprise we found that the kid's favorite activity was the petting zoo which they usually aren't that in-to, but after today I'm really thinking we just need to buy a farm and raise some bunnies and goats.

Just look at that smile!

Our adopted bunny. (KIDDING.)

Lily tried to pick up every bunny but unfortunately they weighed about as much as she did so it didn't work out. (Excuse girlfriend's hot mess of a romper gone bad. It came unbuttoned and was gradually sagging lower and lower--I have no idea how, it's like the fabric was growing!)

Hayes The Brave who mustered up the courage to hold a guinea pig right before we left.

A few more (unsafe) rounds on the slide....

...And then we grabbed some Hot-N-Ready's and headed home with a bunch of happy, sweaty, and tired children. I was so tired once we got home that I put the kids in jammies and then lazy mom'd it and let the kids "picnic" on a beach towel in the living room while we watched Monsters Inc. (while I laid on the couch of course) and then Bryan SAVED ME by walking in the door and putting the little dears to bed. Some days I really and truly think that last little bit before Bryan comes home lasts 15 years.

I never take outfit photos of myself but I just got a full-length mirror for the first time in 6 years and also just got this shirt at Stein Mart so here you go. I've worn that hat almost every day for the last two weeks so there's that, too.

Here's to perfect October Saturdays!
